Overview
Rhodiola rosea is a resilient flowering perennial plant that grows in cold regions of the world in areas up to 7,500 feet in elevation. Common names for the herb include Arctic Root, Golden Root, Roseroot, Aaron’s Rod, and simply Rhodiola.
Because it may be effective for improving mood and alleviating depression, Rhodiola has been used for centuries in Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as in Russia and Scandinavia to cope with the harsh climate and stressful lifestyle. Human trials have shown it to improve mental and physical performance and may also reduce fatigue and may improve memory. Recent evidence suggests that Rhodiola has antioxidant effects and enhances the immune function and may also increase sexual energy.
