Recommended Dosage
Typical daily dosage is 100 mcgs; dosages used in clinical trials range from 21 – 200 mcgs. The Recommended Dietary Allowance for selenium is 55 mcgs and states that daily intake from all sources should not exceed 400 mcgs per day; take 1 capsule, one to two times daily with meals.
Cautions
• Large doses (800 mcgs or more daily) can cause toxicity with symptoms such as: loss of hair and nails, skin lesions, nervous system abnormalities, digestive problems and garlicky breath. Consult a health care practitioner if you experience any of these symptoms while taking selenium.
• In long term clinical studies, no adverse effects were reported at use levels of 200 mcgs per day, in the form of an organic selenium supplement.
